OpenSource Project

“I support Open source”…that is usually my first response to any conversation that comes up with regards to an Open source project. Think about it; how IT literate would users be if they had to work on Open source Operating Systems and tools? How easy would Microsoft tools seem after a Linux install and configuration…let alone using OpenOffice.Org? Not to say that it’s difficult, just challenging. Just imagine an open world with data repositories ready for use free of charge, developers working to customize code to suite them as well as those that would have a need for the same functionality, schools not burdened by high costs of software, kiosks setup in malls with any Linux Distro you would like and all you’d have to do is burn a disk and voila. See that to me would stop all the software piracy happening coz honestly, I just can’t cough out the exuberant prices these vendors sometimes ask for. tux

One Response to “OpenSource Project”

  1. I also support Open Source, and am disgusted by the majority of companies using Open Source software but not pushing anything back into the community, either code- or money-wise. The misuse(one way use of open source) I reckon could damper the Open Source wave hitting us at the moment.
